Lip Neutralization

Lip Neutralization

DESCRIPTION

Lip neutralization is the process of softening and/or camouflaging areas of the lips where there is an overproduction of melanin resulting in uneven color in the lips. For some, this may mean spots of browns, purples or blues, while others may see an entire lip or both lips experiencing the aforementioned colors all over.

Anyone over the age of 18, who is in good health, and who desires a lip stain effect.

  • If you are under the age of 18, we cannot provide you with lip blush services even if you have a parent’s consent.
  • People who get lip fillers must wait 2 weeks after a lip filler session before we can apply lip blush or neutralization so as not to disturb the placement of the filler.
  • Pregnant and nursing women.
  • People with active lip sores, cold sores, fever blisters or any other form of abrasions or cuts around the mouth, psoriasis or eczema.
  • Individuals using blood thinners of any kind, especially long term, or those with blood disorders may have difficulty with bleeding and/or bruising and this can affect the healing process. The application of permanent makeup requires implanting color into the skin, and the aforementioned conditions could interfere with depositing the color. You must consult your doctor and provide documentation from your physician stating you are cleared to receive microblading services.
  • Diabetics may experience a more difficult time with healing and must obtain written consent from a physician stating your health will not be compromised should you undergo the permanent makeup procedure.
  • The use of Retin-A or similar retinoids must be stopped 7 days prior to your procedure and cannot resume for another 30 days after.
  • If you have an Autoimmune Disease, please consult your physician and obtain a letter stating you are cleared to receive microblading.
  • Those who suffer from epilepsy need a physician’s approval prior to the procedure.

  • Lip blush is still a form of tattooing, but it is done in such a way that it leaves a light hint of color in the lips.
  • Neutralization is the process of adding pigment colors to the lips that lessen the appearance of the different shades of browns, blues, purples in the lips.
  • Lip tattoos are a more traditional form of tattooing where the lips are left with a more intense lipstick color.

Lip blush can last up to two years without touch ups, but will ultimately be determined by your health and lifestyle.

  • If you’ve ever had cold sores or fever blisters, it is important for you to get a prescription from your physician to prevent an outbreak. GoodRx may also be a viable option for securing a prescription, as they offer virtual appointments. Take recommended dosage 3 days before your appointment and for an additional 5 days after your appointment to prevent an outbreak.

  • An alternative to prescription treatments for cold sores/ fever blisters is  the L-Lysine vitamin. Take recommended dosage 3 days before your appointment and for an additional 5 days after your appointment to prevent an outbreak.

  • 3-5 days before your appointment, gently exfoliate your lips with a little bit of lip exfoliant (purchase at a store or make your own out of brown sugar and olive oil), and moisturize daily with a lip moisturizer to keep your lips soft and supple.

  • With the permission of your physician, please do NOT take any blood thinners or fish oils for at least 48 hours prior to your appointment, as these items can cause you to bleed excessively. Again, please make sure to speak with your physician prior to stopping the use of any blood thinning agents.
